Small ideas can make Metro greater.

About MetroGreater

MetroGreater is a crowdsourcing contest that will collect rider ideas for quick, small improvements to Metro. Over the next few months, Greater Greater Washington will work with the Coalition for Smarter Growth and other partners to collect your awesome ideas for making Metro greater. An expert jury will select up to 10 finalists and then the public will vote to select a winner. WMATA has committed to implementing the winning idea by late 2016 or early 2017.

Metro is your transit system. How do you want to make it better?

We know that riders like you are frustrated with WMATA these days. But, we also know that having a walkable, transit-oriented community is important to you. So, while General Manager Wiedefeld is working on the big, long-term improvements to make Metro safer and more reliable through SafeTrack, he reached out to Greater Greater Washington to gather ideas from you about what WMATA can do to make riding Metro more pleasant for you in the meantime.

If you could make one small, quick improvement to Metro, what would it be?

Your ideas must:

Maybe your idea would result in an improvement felt by a lot of riders like the platform decals that help with passenger flow. Maybe you really want WMATA to increase bicycle storage at your station like they did at NoMa a few years ago. Or, maybe you know of some bus stops that could use some "appropriate technology" to alleviate the burden of remaining upright (aka plastic chairs to sit on).

Got more than one good idea? Submit them all! There's no limit to the number of ideas any one person can submit.

Don't have a good idea, yet? Read and comment on the ideas people have already submitted. Who knows? Maybe you'll be inspired!

Submissions will be accepted through July 15, 2016. Then, a jury of regional experts and advocates will select 5-10 submissions that meet all necessary criteria as finalists. Open voting by the public for which finalist should be the winner, and implemented by WMATA, will take place in August. The winner will be announced in late August, and Greater Greater Washington and the Coalition for Smarter Growth will offer periodic updates on the implementation status of the winner through the end of 2016 and into early 2017.

By submitting a idea, you agree to the MetroGreater terms and conditions.
