Small ideas can make Metro greater.

Demand Indicators on Web Site and at Station Entrances

Provide a live indicator of existing demand at Metrorail stations on the web site and outside of station entrances.

Demand indicators could be generated either using station platform sensors that assess capacity [implementation probably more than $100k], or by simply measuring the rate of people/minute through fare gate entrances [I assume WMATA has access to this already--if such is the case, no new cost].

Metrorail users could use this information to make better decisions about what stations to use when in a location with various station options, or may choose a different mode like Metrobus.
