Native Plantings in Landscaping will reduce maintenance costs for Metro

Improve the look of metro station landscaping using native plants: Metro Station Exits serve as a "Gateway" into our neighborhoods and communities and the appearance of landscaping needs to be improved to make it more attractive using native plants (this will reduce costs of landscaping maintenance). Create a local/community advisory group to work with metro landscaping staff establishing a plan for landscaping; this could result in a cost savings to metro since native plantings are adapted to local conditions and require less maintenance), this could also result in better stormwater management through the use of rain gardens, rain garden plantings which can absorb stormwater resulting in reduced flooding conditions due to the significant amount of impervious surfaces at metro stations.
